VASOMAX: THE CLINICAL TRIALS

The basis for Vasomax was Dr. Zorgniotti’s original buccal strips, but a fast-dissolving pill was developed soon after. In 1995, this pill was Tested with a small group of men in doses of 20, 40, and 60 mg. Blood levels of the drug peaked alter thirty minutes following the 20 mg dose, and remained high for two hours after administration of the two higher dosages.

Later, in March 1996, Phase II trials were completed in Germany. In those tests, 160 men were randomly assigned treatment with either 20, 40, or 60 mg of phentolamine, or a placebo. Analysis of the resulting data proved that 40 mg had the best efficacy and safety profile. Interestingly, it also showed that men older than fifty seemed to get the best results. While this was certainly significant clinically, it did not come as a surprise to the researchers. It suggested that the organic causes for ED increase with age, and, therefore, those older than fifty would show impressive restored erectile function.
